The dodo bird
This is the Dodo Bird. The Dodo Bird was a flightless bird that lived in the island of Mauritius. All this birds ate were fruits that fell off from the trees and weighed about 50 pounds. The cause of this animal to go extinct was when the Portuguese first settled on the island they lived. The Portuguese would kill this animal for food. Within 100 years that the humans settled on the island the Dodo Bird was considered a rare animal to find. The last dodo bird was killed in 1681, since then the Dodo Bird is considered extinct.
The baiji dolphin
This is a Baiji Dolphin. The Baiji Dolphin was a freshwater dolphin that lived in Yangtze river in China. The cause for this animal to go extinct was because the impact of humans. What humans did to make this animal go extinct is due to over fishing, boat traffic, habitat loss, pollution and poaching but the saddest part is their skin was used to make gloves and handbags. It is said to be the first dolphin species driven to extinct due to impact of humans. The last documented of a Baiji Dolphin was in 2002. Scientist did an exploration to find them but didn't find anything in 2006 and traveled over 2,000 miles throw the Yangtze river. Even though there is still some Baiji Dolphins left it is considered extinct because there is not enough of them for the species survival.
The spix macaw
This is the Spix Macaw. The Spix Macaw is a bird that lives in northern Brazil. Even though there is still a 71 of them live captivity, the last one seen in the wild was in 2000 before it disappeared. Since then none of them haven't been seen. This animal isn't really considered extinct but still is critically endangered. The cause for this animal to go extinct was because of people hunting and trapping. One important part of their extinction was because of habitat destruction, not only does this affect the Spix Macaw but many more animals.
